Reader, I need your help with a hard decision.
I’m looking for a new home for our five-year-old pup, Nemo, due to my current job situation and my family’s changing circumstances. It’s ripping us to bits, but we want what’s best for him.
Nemo’s the kind of dog who will stay wrapped in your bed sheets late in the morning and won’t get up until you do. He’s a seasoned traveler, has lived in Central America and bounced all along the East Coast and Midwest, is a quick favorite of flight crews, and is beloved by his pet sitters. Virtually every review he has gotten on his Rover profile has mentioned he’s a cuddler. It’s true, his happy place is snoozing by your side on the couch all day. I’ve had the privilege of being his dog mom since he was six weeks old, and he’s been a loyal companion through grad school, marriage, international moves, pregnancy, and more.
The challenge is that he has separation anxiety and needs company during the day. He thrives with companionship and would be perfect for someone who is retired, works from home, or has a flexible schedule. He gets along well with children, other dogs, and maybe cats, depending on the cat.
We’re open to temporary fostering through June 2026 or permanent adoption for the right match. We can cover expenses for fostering arrangements, and I’m happy to answer questions about his personality and needs. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. We’re based in Detroit.
If you or anyone you know might be interested, or if you’re willing to share this post to help me find the right person for him, I would genuinely appreciate it. Thanks for understanding.
