Friends for Animals is proud to host one of the only youth-oriented animal shelter volunteer programs in the Metro-Detroit area. Weekly youth program sessions are hosted in-shelter on weekend mornings 9-11am and are primarily focused on cat care and enrichment which does include housekeeping such as laundry and dishes. Dog care and interaction may happen on occasion.
Sessions are available to youth ages 10-15, we can accommodate up to 15 youth per week. This program has a one-time fee of $30 which covers the cost of the volunteer t-shirt and name badge.
Friends for Animals’ Spring Break Youth Program brings kids and teens together to learn how to care for animals through hands-on activities, age-appropriate lessons, and special guest presentations. This is an entry-level program perfect for youth of all comfortability and skill levels, ages 10-15. The program is a drop-off program and will run Tuesday-Thursday from 9am-1pm. Please be aware that youth will work with both cats and dogs, and will be around peanut butter and other allergens.
We will be hosting the program for one week, only.
